I {finally} decided…

For months now, maybe even over a year, I have been looking for a headboard shape that I loved. There are so many gorgeous ones out there! My husband had a Pottery Barn slipcover when we got married. He and I simply had a piece of wood cut to king size dimensions, covered the wood in batting, and then slipped the linen PB cover over it. Its worked for us for several years, but he and I both knew we eventually wanted a more defined shape in a headboard.
After my months of searching, I came across a gorgeous magazine spread. In the photos of a bedroom, there was the prettiest tiered, nailhead-trimmed headboard. And ta-da! My headboard was born.
Here’s the before and after shots of our bedroom!
BEFORE: This makes me laugh! You can see how often I swap things around in my house….small painting above bed and suzani over the old headboard here…

Now, a Chinoiserie screen above the old headboard, different pillows, no suzani.

AFTER: My new gorgeous headboard!

I love it with the table skirt too.

And it looks so pretty with the mirrored chest on my husband’s side of the bed.

I simply slipped off the old slipcover from the wooden headboard, and asked the upholsterer to use it to recover the new one. He cut my shape exactly as I wanted, and I love the dark brass nailhead!

I kept the piece of wood and the batting we were using prior to the new headboard being cut – who knows? We may want a guest room in the future with a king-sized bed! Just keeping my options open…
